Meet the “Galaxy Got Talent 2015” Winners; Support Local Charity and Promote Social Harmony

Sept 17, 2015 The seventh “Galaxy Got Talent” Grand Final organized by Galaxy Entertainment Group (“GEG”) ended successfully on Thursday in the Broadway Theater. Over 2,000 GEG team members attended the event in support of the finalists, and of the ten outstanding groups that competed, Johnson Zeng from Entertainment Department of Galaxy Macau™ took home the “Galaxy Got Talent” Gold Award while Sound of Galaxy from Security Department of Galaxy Macau obtained the “Galaxy Got Talent” Silver Award. In addition, The Expandables from Security Department of StarWorld Hotel was voted “The Audience Choice” and FO San Stars from Front Office of StarWorld Hotel received “The Best Image”. Apart from the showcase of talents by internal contestants, GEG also invited Macao Special Olympics “BEEz” band onstage for a sharing of their performance and presented a MOP150,000 cheque to the Macao Special Olympics for support of their daily operations and service expansion. 

This year’s “Galaxy Got Talent” Grand Final was officiated by honorable guests, including Ms. Mang Sui Yee, Head of Employment Department of Labour Affairs Bureau, Ms. Serene Chan, Head of the Research and Investigation Department of Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau, Ms. Alice Wong, Acting Head of Research and Planning Department of Social Welfare Bureau, Mr. Si Chen, Deputy Director of the Economic Affairs Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao SAR, Mr. Guo Tao, Deputy Director-General of General Affairs Department of Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Macao SAR, Ms. Paula Lei, representative of Culture Affairs Bureau, Mr. Hetzer Siu Yu Hong, Chief Executive Officer of Macao Special Olympics, Ms. Eileen Lui, Group Director of Human Resources and Administration of GEG, and Mr. Kevin Kelly, Chief Operating Officer, Macau of GEG. Upholding the Group’s commitment to fulfill its social responsibility and promote social harmony, GEG invited service users from Macao Special Olympics “BEEz” band to help kick-off the event, and their performance of a Cantopop favorite received a big round of applause from the audience. Mr. Chin Chong Hang, lead singer of “BEEz” extended his appreciation for GEG’s patronage and said, “This is our first time to perform in the Broadway Theatre and I am so happy to see everyone clapping their hands and taking photos with us.”

All funds raised through team members’ purchase of the event’s entry tickets were donated to the Macao Special Olympics in support of their daily operations service expansion. The funds, which amounted to MOP150,000, were presented in the form of a cheque to Mr. Hetzer Siu Yu Hong, Chief Executive Officer of Macao Special Olympics by Ms. Eileen Lui, Group Director of Human Resources and Administration of GEG and Mr. Kevin Kelly, Chief Operating Officer, Macau of GEG. Mr. Siu thanked GEG for the tremendous support and said, “GEG’s hosting of this event allows for our service users to show their talents and develop their potentials, which is aligned with our vision for establishing a cohesive and inclusive society.”  

The ten finalists selected from the pre-screen competed for the best impressions of the judges and audiences. The finalists all said that they have practiced intensively in hopes of staging their best performance. The competition came to an end when Johnson Zeng and Sound of Galaxy were announced winners of the “Galaxy Got Talent” Gold and “Galaxy Got Talent” Silver awards. Other awards including “The Audience Choice”, “The Best Image,” “The Best Showmanship,” “The Best Creativity” and the “Facebook Most Like” were also presented to its respective winners on stage. Cheers from the audiences were at its peak when senior executives began appearing onstage to deliver their special “Movies and Musicals” themed performances.  

This year, GEG relocated the event from the previous Galaxy Macau East Square to the Broadway Theater so that audiences and finalists alike can enjoy a more spectacular experience. In addition, the Group also invited Mr. Vincent Cheang, renowned Macau designer and musician, Mr. John Ku, Executive Director of NewRound Culture Transmission Macau Co. Ltd, Mr. Hetzer Siu Yu Hong, Chief Executive Officer of Macao Special Olympics, Ms. Trancy Koh, Vice President of Entertainment of GEG and Mr. Kevin Wong, Assistant Vice President of Entertainment Production of Galaxy Macau and composer to sit on this year’s judging panel.
